Who We Are

A Different Kind of Ballet Company

Avoda Dance Company was founded in 2022 out of a need for En Pointe School of Dance dancers to have an outlet to be able to perform and compete on a high level, while still having a positive environment to train and rehearse. Avoda Dance Company performs two full length concerts per year, including our Nutcracker Suite in December. All performances have uplifting themes and create wholesome entertainment for families in our community.

A Competition Team Focused on More Than Winning

The Avoda Dance Competition team was founded in 2022 alongside the ballet company. The purpose of the competition team is to give students a positive approach to dance competitions. Rather than the sole focus being to win awards, dancers focus on it being a chance to spread positivity through the performance, to work hard while encouraging others in classes, and to use their God-given talents while pushing themselves to great heights. Instead of winning trophies that will eventually collect dust, all of our team awards, we instead donate the money to Dancers Against Cancer to help others in need through our dancing. Why Avoda?

Our company’s name, “Avoda,” is derived from the Hebrew word, “avodah,” which translates to “work, worship, service.” Avoda Company dancers participate in at least 1 service project per season to serve our community. Competition Team dancers donate their awards to Dancers Against Cancer instead of earning trophies. All Avoda dancers, from Pre Company to Competition Team and Company, present choreography with messages that bring love and light into our community. Our full length productions strive to present themes that uplift and encourage the audience. We instill the idea in all of our Avoda dancers that everything they do—whether it’s rehearsal, a class, performance, or competition—can can be done with thankfulness, humility, and love.
